Terrix® RN-PR-MR
waterproof protective mineral render
Terrix® RN-PR-MR mineral-based mortar provides effective protection against moisture for outdoor and indoor use. The product creates a waterproof and fully vapour-permeable layer, effectively shielding walls from water and moisture. It allows damp and saturated walls to dry, making it suitable for both outdoor and indoor use.
Terrix® RN-PR-MR is specifically designed for renovating damp walls, including those in buildings with clay walls and floors (brick). This mineral mortar is ideal for safeguarding walls in flood-prone buildings, insulating basements and foundations, as well as protecting concrete walls. It is also effective for insulation in walls in direct contact with the ground and groundwater, watertight wells, hydro-technical structures, and water reservoirs.
Highly recommended for use on historic buildings, Terrix® RN-PR-MR effectively shields external and foundation walls against moisture. It is also ideal for plinths and walls in moisture-prone areas, such as bathrooms, showers, and swimming pools.
Terrix® RN-PR-MR can also be used as a render for timber and steel frame buildings, and for re-rendering walls that emit unpleasant odours, or are damp and contaminated with algae, black mould, or efflorescence. Terrix® RN-PR-MR is compatible with all common mineral substrates, including concrete, cement plaster, cement-lime plaster, lime plaster, brick, and block walls.
Benefits
Main properties:
- Effective Protection Against Wall Dampness: Ensures robust defence against moisture penetration, preserving wall integrity.Designed for renovating damp walls;
- Designed for Renovating Damp Walls: Specifically formulated to refurbish and restore walls affected by dampness.Protecting against water ingress;
- Creates a Waterproof Layer with High Vapour Permeability: Forms a barrier that repels water while allowing the wall to ‘breathe’ by permitting vapour transmission.
- Protection Against Water Ingress: Shields surfaces from water intrusion, maintaining structural strength and preventing damage.Suitable for outdoor and indoor use;
- High Adhesion to Difficult and Moist Substrates: Demonstrates strong bonding capabilities, even on challenging and moist surfaces;
- Easy to Apply: User-friendly application suitable for both professionals and DIY enthusiasts;
- Suitable for Outdoor and Indoor Use: Versatile for various environments, ensuring durability and effectiveness in multiple settings;
- Contains Microfibres and Polypropylene Fibres: Enhanced with microfibres and polypropylene fibres for increased strength and resilience.

Application
Substrate preparation:
Apply to a sound and clean substrate (without cracks and delaminations), degreased, even and dry, and free of biological contamination or chemical efflorescence. The substrate should be free of algae/ fungi growth. In case of microbial contamination, the substrate should be cleaned with a power washer. Subsequently, a good quality anti-fungal solution for removing microbial contamination is to be applied per the product manual. The substrate must be protected against capillary action, moisture intake and precipitation. Any loose layers not bound to the substrate (i.e. loose render or flaked coatings) should be removed. Wash and degrease old or dirty substrates with water and a cleaning agent.
Priming:
Absorbent substrates must be primed with Terrix® PR-UA or dampened prior to the product application.
Preparation:
Gradually pour the contents of the packaging into a container with a measured amount of clean and cool water (approx. 4.5 litres) while continuously mixing (with a low-speed mixer fitted with a basket stirrer) until homogeneous/ creamy consistency is obtained. The mixing time is approx. 3-5 minutes. If the product is not used immediately, the mixing should be stopped, and the mortar should be stirred again before being used. The prepared mortar should be used within 1 hour or 30 minutes after remixing.
Note: Too long and too intensive mixing may lead to excessive airing of the mortar and, consequently, lowering its properties.
Do not add any other materials during the preparation of the mortar.
During mixing, the product may generate a significant amount of dust.
Application method:
Apply the prepared mortar to the substrate manually using a stainless steel trowel in a maximum of 3 layers, each 10 mm thick. The middle layer should be scratched sharply with a notched trowel when applying several layers. When applying more than one layer, if the previously applied layer exhibits “drops” of water, the surface must be wiped before applying the next layer.
Depending on the degree of wall dampness, the render thickness should range from 10 to 30 mm.
After the application and initial setting of the final layer, the render can be smoothed with a sponge or felt float.
Warning:
The product has an alkaline reaction. Protect the eyes and skin. PPE should be used during the work. If eye contact occurs, rinse immediately with plenty of water, and if irritation occurs, seek medical attention.
Drying:
It is assumed that the setting and hardening time of the plaster mortar is one day for each 1 mm of product thickness. After this period, the render can be covered with plasters and paints with high vapour permeability. Note: If, after application, there is high temperature and low air humidity and/or the render is exposed to direct sunlight or wind, the wall should be moistened with water for min. seven days.
Useful hints:
Low temperature and high air humidity can significantly extend the drying time of the product. To ensure adequate water tightness, completing each wall in one working cycle is necessary. While applying and drying the mortar, rainless weather should prevail with the air temperature ranging from + 5 ° C to + 25 ° C. Wash the tools with water immediately after finishing work. Avoid working on surfaces exposed to direct sunlight, strong wind and high air humidity. To protect the uncured render against the harmful effects of inclement weather, it is recommended to use appropriate protective nets on the scaffolding.
