Terrix® PR-ST-R
primer for silicate renders

Terrix® PR-ST-R is a coloured potassium silicate-based primer, formulated
for the preparation of substrates prior to the application of silicate renders,
such as Terrix® RD-ST and Terrix® RN-RC-ST.
It is suitable for priming mineral external façades, including concrete, lime render
and lime-cement render, and is compatible with Terrix® EWI systems.
Note: Do not apply to substrates coated with finishes based on synthetic binders (e.g. acrylic, silicone).
Benefits
Main properties:
- Mineral composition: based on a non-combustible mineral binder for good compatibility with mineral substrates;
- Improves adhesion: enhances the bond between the substrate and subsequent render coats for a stable finish;
- Controls absorbency: reduces and equalises substrate absorbency, supporting even drying and curing of the render;
- High vapour permeability: maintains vapour permeability, allowing moisture to pass through and helping to reduce moisture build-up;
- Tintable: can be tinted to match the render colour, helping to mask the substrate if the finish is mechanically damaged and improving colour uniformity;
- Strengthens the substrate: binds and consolidates the substrate to support subsequent layers;
- Improves application: enhances workability, supporting smooth application and accurate texturing of the render finish.
Technical Data
Base binder: potassium silicate;
Pigments: inorganic colour pigments;
VOC content: cat. A/g. The product contains less than 30 g/L VOC;
Density: approx. 1.40 g/cm3;
Colour: white or tinted to match the render colour;
Usage: approx. 0.23 L/m2 (depending on substrate absorbency);

Relative humidity: ≤ 75 %;
Packaging: 5 L or 10 L plastic buckets;
Storage: store in the original, tightly sealed packaging in a cool, dry, frost-protected area. After partial use, reseal the packaging and use the remaining product as soon as possible;
Shelf life: 18 months from the manufacture date specified on the packaging, provided that the storage requirements are observed.
CAUTION: Keep the product out of reach of children.
Application
Substrate preparation:
Apply to a sound, clean substrate (free from cracks and delamination), degreased, even, dry, and free from biological growth and chemical efflorescence. The substrate must be free from algae and fungal growth. Where microbial contamination is present, clean
the substrate using a pressure washer. Then apply a suitable biocidal wash in accordance
with the relevant product instructions. Remove any loose material not bonded
to the substrate (e.g. loose render or flaking paint). Wash and degrease old and/or dirty substrates with water and an appropriate cleaning agent.
If the substrate has significant irregularities, level using Terrix® RD-LB levelling compound. Small irregularities can be levelled using Terrix® RN-LF 8 or an equivalent product.
Highly absorbent substrates should be primed with a suitable penetrating primer before applying the levelling mortar. Allow a minimum curing time of 2 weeks on newly constructed mineral substrates (e.g. concrete, lime render, lime-cement render
and cement render). When used as part of a Terrix® EWI system, follow the Terrix EWI manual.
Note: Before application, protect all adjacent elements made from alkali-sensitive materials (e.g. wood, metal, glass or brick) against splashes due to the product’s alkaline nature.
Preparation:
The packaging contains a ready-to-use product.
Do not dilute.
Application method:
Apply the product to the substrate using a brush or a paint roller.
Warning: The product is alkaline and must be kept away from eyes and skin. Appropriate protective clothing, including gloves and eyewear, should be worn during application. In the event of eye contact, rinse thoroughly with plenty of water and seek medical attention if irritation persists.
Drying:
The curing time for the applied product before render application is approx. 24 hours. Ensure the newly applied coating is protected from rain and moisture condensation during this period to allow for complete curing.
Application conditions:
During the application and curing of the product, ensure that the weather is dry,
with air temperatures above +8 °C.
Clean tools with water immediately after finishing work.
Avoid working on surfaces exposed to direct sunlight or strong winds.
To protect the uncured layer from harmful atmospheric conditions, it is recommended
to use appropriate protective netting on scaffolding.
