Terrix® PR-PS-P
primer for polymer-silicate paints

High-quality primer based on an acrylic dispersion, enriched with siloxane hydrophobic additives.
It is used as a preparatory coat before applying Terrix® polymer silicate exterior finishing coats and for the hydrophobic impregnation of absorbent building substrates in exterior applications.
It is also suitable for priming mineral substrates, such as concrete, traditional lime renders, lime cement renders and cement renders, as well as thin film mineral, silicate and polymer silicate renders. It can be applied to substrates coated with well-bonded synthetic coatings.
This impregnation is particularly recommended for porous and weathered substrates, including concrete, cement screeds, lime-based or cement-based renders, fibre cement boards, and uncoated surfaces of bricks, blocks, hollow bricks and similar ceramic or silicate materials.
Benefits
Main properties:
- Improves paint adhesion;
- Reduces and evens out substrate absorbency;
- Provides high vapour permeability;
- Protects against staining and efflorescence;
- Reduces dusting;
- Does not affect the colour of the substrate;
- Very good adhesion to mineral substrates.

Shelf life: 12 months from the manufacture date specified on the packaging, provided that the storage requirements are observed.
CAUTION: Keep the product out of reach of children.
Application
Substrate preparation:
Apply to a sound, clean substrate (free from cracks and delamination), degreased, even, dry, and free from biological growth and chemical efflorescence.
The substrate must be free from algae and fungal growth. Where microbial contamination is present, clean the substrate using a pressure washer. Then apply
a suitable biocidal wash in accordance with the relevant product instructions. Remove any loose material not bonded to the substrate (e.g. loose render or flaking paint). Wash and degrease old and/or dirty substrates with water and an appropriate cleaning agent.
If the substrate has significant irregularities, level using Terrix® RD-LB levelling compound.
Slight irregularities can be levelled using Terrix® RN-LF 8 or an equivalent product.
Highly absorbent substrates should be primed with a suitable penetrating primer before applying the levelling mortar.
Allow a minimum of 2 weeks for curing on newly constructed mineral substrates (e.g., concrete, lime render, lime-cement render, and cement render).
Preparation:
The packaging contains a ready-to-use product. If required, add a small amount of clean water: max 5 % for the first coat.
Application method:
Apply the product to the substrate with a paintbrush, roller or spray.
For highly absorbent substrates, two coats are recommended using the wet-on-wet method.
Drying:
The drying time of the primer applied to the substrate before paint application is approximately 12 hours.
Protect the newly applied primer from precipitation and condensation until completely dry.
Note: Full hydrophobic properties of the coating are achieved after 7 days.
Application conditions:
During application and drying, weather conditions must be rain-free, and the air temperature must be above +5 °C.
Low temperatures and high humidity may slow down drying. In such conditions, wait until the primer is completely dry before applying the finishing coat.
Clean tools with water immediately after use.
Do not apply to surfaces exposed to direct sunlight or strong winds.
The use of suitable protective netting on scaffolding is recommended to protect
the undried coating from adverse weather conditions.
