Terrix® PR-BR
primer for Brick Effect System BES

Terrix® PR-BR is a water-based, ready-to-use primer intended for sound, dry and properly prepared porous and absorbent mineral substrates, including concrete, aerated concrete, cement boards, plasterboard, gypsum substrates and gypsum plasters, as well as cement and cement-lime renders. It penetrates the substrate to reduce and equalise absorbency, reduce dustiness and strengthen the surface.
BES system overview (informative)
Terrix® PR-BR is an integral component of the TERRIX® BES Brick Effect System,
an external cladding solution designed for use within Terrix ERS and EWI systems.
TERRIX® BES consists of non-loadbearing cladding elements and does not contribute
to the structural stability of the wall. When correctly detailed and applied, the system may enhance façade durability by providing additional protection against weathering while maintaining vapour permeability.
The TERRIX® BES Brick Effect System has a reaction to fire classification A2-s1,d0 in accordance with EN 13501-1 (classification report FIRES-CR-169-24-AURS). The classification relates to the complete BES system.
The system is suitable for application on both new and existing substrates on vertical walls, as well as on horizontal or inclined surfaces not exposed to precipitation. TERRIX® BES is not intended to provide airtightness of the building structure.
Benefits
Main properties:
- Modern system design: factory-made components designed for consistent appearance and predictable performance;
- Authentic brick appearance: replicates the look of traditional brickwork through brick slips, colour and jointing finish;
- Fire performance: depends on the complete system build-up. Refer to the relevant fire classification/test report for the approved system;
- Weather-resistant and vapour-permeable: helps protect the façade against rain while allowing water vapour diffusion when correctly detailed and applied;
- Strong adhesion to suitable substrates: provides a durable bond when applied to correctly prepared, sound and dry substrates;
- Engineered system with traditional finishing: combines system components with conventional jointing techniques;
- Professional brick slip cladding solution for new build and refurbishment.

Storage: store in original, tightly sealed packaging in dry conditions, protected from frost and direct sunlight. Recommended storage temperature: +5 °C to +30 °C;
Shelf life: 12 months from the date of manufacture stated on the packaging, provided the storage conditions are observed. Recommended to use within 6 months after opening.
CAUTION: Keep the product out of reach of children.
Application
Substrate preparation:
Ensure the substrate is sound, even, dry and clean. Remove all substances and layers that may reduce adhesion (e.g. dust, grease, laitance, old coatings, weak renders). Repair cracks, defects and areas of delamination before priming. • Biological contamination (algae, mould, fungi): clean mechanically and wash (e.g. pressure washer). Apply a suitable biocidal treatment in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. Allow the substrate to dry. • Loose material removal: remove all unbound layers (flaking paint, weak or damaged render) and dust. • Cleaning and degreasing: wash and degrease contaminated surfaces using water and an appropriate cleaning agent. Rinse thoroughly and allow to dry. • Efflorescence/chemical contamination: remove any efflorescence and contamination before priming.
Preparation:
The product is ready to use. Do not dilute for standard application. Mix thoroughly before use.
Application method :
Application tools: brush or roller.
Highly absorbent or damaged substrates
Apply two coats for improved penetration and performance. Dilute the second coat
with water at a ratio of 2:1 (1 litre of primer to 0.5 litre of water).
Apply the second coat before the first coat is completely dry.
Drying:
Allow a minimum of 24 hours for the primer to dry before commencing installation
of the Brick Effect System.
Note: Drying time may be longer at low temperatures and or high humidity.
Protect freshly primed surfaces from adverse weather conditions, for example by using scaffolding fitted with protective netting or tarpaulins.
Useful hints:
Avoid application in direct sunlight, during strong winds or when precipitation
is expected.
During application and drying, the temperature must not fall below +5 °C.
Close the container tightly after use. Use the product as soon as possible after opening.
Clean tools immediately after use with water.
