Terrix® PR-BB
bonding-bridge

Terrix® PR-BB is a solvent-free, penetrating bonding bridge primer designed to improve adhesion on various substrates, including absorbent and non-absorbent surfaces. Its advanced formulation ensures alkali resistance, diffusibility, water repellence, and weather stability, making it suitable for indoor and outdoor applications.
Typical Applications:
- XPS (extruded polystyrene): Ensures a strong bond on insulation materials with smooth, non-absorbent surfaces.
- Steel and metal structures: It facilitates adhesion to steel beams, frames, and other metallic elements, making it an excellent choice for industrial and structural applications.
- Concrete: Provides a reliable base layer on new and existing concrete structures.
- Wood: Improves adhesion on timber substrates, including plywood and MDF.
- Enamel-coated surfaces: Facilitates adhesion on glossy or smooth coatings.
- Ceramic and porcelain tiles: Ideal for creating a bonding layer over existing tiled surfaces.
- Hardboard: Enhances adhesion on engineered wood substrates.
Important Note:
The weakest bond within the substrate layers inherently limits the adhesion of Terrix® PR-BB to multi-layered materials. Before application, it is recommended to assess the integrity of all layers to ensure optimal primer performance.
Benefits
Main properties:
Terrix® PR-BB is a high-performance bonding bridge primer designed to improve the adhesion of coatings and materials to various substrates, including those with limited absorbency.
Key features include:
- Compatibility with absorbent and non-absorbent substrates.
- Equalises substrate absorbency for uniform application.
- Significantly increases adhesion of subsequent coatings or materials.
- Suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
Technical Data
Base binder: high-performance synthetic resin dispersion;
Colour: white;
Usage: approx. 0.3 kg /m2 (depending on substrate absorbency);
Water vapour diffusion (Sd): 0.30 m
Water vapour permeability: 68.2 g/(m²·24h)
Adhesion to a substrate (concrete): ≥1.5 N/mm²
Temperature of application (air and substrate): from +5°C to +25°C;
Relative humidity: ≤75%;
Packaging: single-use plastic containers of 6 kg;
Storage: the product should be stored in its original sealed packaging in a cool, dry and frost-protected room. After opening and using some of the contents, the packaging should be resealed, and the remainder of the product should be used as soon as possible;
Shelf life: 6 months from the production date (factory-sealed packaging).
CAUTION: Keep the product out of reach of children.
Aplication
Substrate preparation:
- Ensure the substrate is sound, stable, and clean—free of cracks, delaminations, loose particles, and contaminants such as oil, grease, dust, and biological growth (e.g., algae or fungi).
- For substrates contaminated with algae, fungi, or mould, clean the surface with a power washer, followed by the application of a suitable biocide solution in accordance with the manufacturer’s guidelines.
- Remove all loose, non-bonded layers, such as peeling paint or loose plaster.
- For dirty or greasy surfaces, clean thoroughly with water and an appropriate cleaning agent, ensuring the substrate is degreased and dry before application.
Preparation:
The product is supplied ready to use and must not be diluted.
Before application, stir thoroughly to ensure a homogeneous consistency.
Application method:
- Periodic stirring is required. The product may settle over time due to the presence of quartz sand. Stir occasionally during application to prevent separation and maintain a uniform consistency.
- Application tools: Apply the primer using a brush or roller. Due to the filler content, spraying is not recommended.
- Additives: Do not add extra binders, water, or other additives which may compromise the product’s performance.
Drying:
The drying time of the primer applied to the substrate is approximately 12 hours (+20 ° C and relative humidity 65%).
Lower temperatures and higher humidities will increase the drying time.
After priming, enclosed areas should be properly ventilated.
Application conditions:
The air temperature should be above + 5 ° C during application and drying.
Wash the tools immediately with water after finishing the work.
